[+]On Set

This is a music video for SPHIA's single, Wide Eyes, shot in London 2026. I got to collaborate closely with my friend and set designer Lexi, which was such a dream, as we had spent the previous two months fantasizing ways that we could create surreal spaces where a physical set is seamlessly extended with digital VFX.

Lexi had just got a new roll of black latex, and was inspired to use it for this music video. With our combined expertise, we came up with this set design for the visualizer in the gallery space that was conveniently vacant in Lexi's studio.

Physically, we decided to hang the latex from the ceiling to the floor, creating a platform for SPHIA. Digitally, this would allow us to easily cut and composite the scene onto a 3D background, with minimal rotoscoping, since all her movements would be contained within the latex strip.

We played with some different lighting configurations as SPHIA was getting ready, and fell in love with depth and complexity of color in the backlit latex!

Once the camera was rolling, SPHIA killed it with her movements and expressive nature. The Director and DoP, Alexander, was a dancer as well so they were able to find a language to communicate with each other.

[+]Post Production

Because of our set design and planning, the post production process was super smooth! We got together some visual references for a brutalistic but organic environment, focusing on silhouettes that would work with the central latex composition.

Lexi modeled the architectural structure, and I worked on a simulation for the pool surrounding SPHIA, adding elements of black liquid latex to blend the 3D with the scene and styling.
